Olhar para as pinturas

Há um monólogo paradigmático daquilo que eu penso ser uma análise, que sendo frugal nas palavras e nos conceitos, se transforma numa série de observações lúcidas sobre os elementos que uma obra pode ter para ser considerada arte.

Sentar-me e observar as pinturas, sentar-me e ouvir falar sobre as pinturas, sentar-me e recriar as pinturas - com a ajuda dos outros e das outras pinturas – contemplar, é na essência, o valor que transforma uma obHá um monólogo paradigmático do que é uma análise, que sendo frugal nas palavras e nos conceitos, se transforma numa série de observações lúcidas sobre os elementos que uma obra pode ter para ser considerada arte.

Sentar-me e observar as pinturas, sentar-me e ouvir falar sobre as pinturas, sentar-me e recriar as pinturas – com a ajuda dos outros e de outras pinturas – na essência contemplar, a acção do ócio que transforma uma obra em arte.

Mesmo sendo um monólogo por demais conhecido, não resisto a transcreve-lo, nem a indicar duas ligações: uma à pintura “Arrangement in Grey and Black: The Artist's Mother (Whistler's Mother)” 1871, e outra ao seu autor: de James McNeill Whistler. Por fim embebo o excerto do filme que contêm o monólogo “Bean” (The Ultimate Disaster)

If it were very small, microscopic, then hardly anyone would be able to see it. Which would be a shame. And the answer to that is, that it's a picture of Whistler's mother. And as I've learned, staying with my best friend David Langley and his family, families are very important. Even though Mr. Whistler was obviously aware that his mother was a hideous old bat who looked like she'd had a cactus lodged up her backside, he stuck with her, and even took the time to paint this amazing picture of her. And that's marvellous. It's not just a painting. It's a picture of a mad old cow who he thought the world of. Well that's what I think.”
